He was born in 1954 in Athens. Initially, he studied under the printmaker Fotis Mastichiadis. Then, he studied printmaking and lithography at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1974-1978), under L. Coutaud, J. Lagrange and G. Dayez. He continued his studies on Plastic Arts at the University Paris VIII, until 1980. He presented his first solo printmaking exhibition in Athens at Nees Morfes Art Ggallery in 1978.
He has created works of painting, drawing and printmaking. His art is figurative with a strong human, mainly female, presence. The complex processing of the images and the attention to details emphasize the poetic dimension of his subjects and the multiplicity of concepts. Color is limited and drawing is particularly precise and perceptive, while the sense of conveyed paper fragility becomes part of his artistic style. The successive, palimpsest-like stages of surface processing allude to reconstituted memories, escalating the feeling of nostalgia and wear of time. Values of the past return renewed in a new context, connecting the teachings of art history with the present. His technical media often allude to printmaking methods, even in works of painting.
He has presented many solo exhibitions in Greece and other European countries. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions and art forums in Greece and abroad. He has created several printmaking works for limited collector’s editions and has illustrated poetry collections.
His works are included in collections of the National Library in France and Greece, at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, the Frissiras Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Florina, the Anthropological and Folklore Museum in Ptolemaida, as well as in Municipal Galleries, private Museums and Institutions, and many private collections in Greece and abroad.
