Born in 1936 in Athens, she studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1955-1960) under Y. Moralis, G. Kefallinos and G. Grammatopoulos. She went on to Paris to study painting under Brianchon at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (1960-1964) and design and fabric printing at the Ecole Superieure des Arts Decoratifs.
She presented her first solo exhibition at the Astor Gallery (Athens 1965).
Her early work is dominated by abstract forms, a pronounced lyrical mood and a special emphasis on colour and texture. Towards the late 1960s her painting acquires some attributes of photorealism, with her compositions incorporating images from current social affairs. Limited colours and precise observation characterise her next phase, which centres on the human body, and in particular the female nude, in partial views. Next she turns to more complex renderings of the female figure while retaining the standard traits of her art — the poetic approach to the subject, the lyricism and the sensitive rendering of details.
She went heavily into portraiture, mainly in the 1980s, while her more recent works are dominated by a dialogue between realistic and abstract elements, in compositions that present vague images of spaces with a pronounced feeling of paradox and the imaginary.
She taught for a number of years at the Vakalo School, the Doxiades School and the Decoration Dept of KATEE.
She has shown her painting in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, including the Salon d’Automne (Paris, 1962), the Panhellenic Exhibitions of 1974 and 1977, the Belgrade Biennale of 1980 and the International Portrait Biennale of Tuzla, Bosnia in 1984.
Her works can be found at the National Gallery, the Ministry of Culture, the Vorres Museum and in many private collections in Greece and abroad.
She passed away on October 30, 2022
