She was born in 1939 in Piraeus. She studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, under A. Georgiadis and Y. Moralis (1958-63).
From her very first solo exhibition (Center for Technological Applications-KTE, 1964), it became obvious that she was delving into the artistic problems of that era, such as the balance between figurative art and abstraction and shaping volume with colour. Soon enough her interest extended beyond conventional techniques and materials of the contemporary greek painting of the time. The largest part of her work is formed by a combination of painting and mixed material constructions (plastic, fabric, rubber, wood, etc.), which usually come from used objects with clearly visible signs of decay. Nonetheless, the purely pictorial elements in her work are not understated, but are rather supplemented by techniques, such as collage or assemblage. Thus, she creates simple and evocative compositions which suggest a personal relationship with the world. The tangible presence of material reality renders a realistic dimension to her works' thematic content, without negating their delicate and often dreamlike aspect.
Her ideological positions and views on the social function of art shaped her professional choices. Like many artists of her generation, she chose to operate professionally through collective schemes of progressive orientation at a great extent, questioning the commercialization of artworks. She was a founding member of several art groups, such as the ‘Group of 6’ (1969, together with Dimitreas, Karavella, Milios, Sorongas and Valavanidis) and, since 1975, the Centre for Visual Arts (KET), ‘Group 4+’ (along with Dimitreas, Kokkinou and Stassinopoulou) and the ‘Group for Communication and Education in Art’.
Moreover, she was particularly concerned with art education. She taught at a number of educational institutions, state and private ones, such as ASFA (1985-1990), the Athens National Technical University – School of Architecture (1990-2004), and several other independent art studios.
She has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She participated in the international painting festival in Cagnes-sur-Mer (France, 1981), in the Biennale of Sao Paolo (1985), et al. Her retrospective exhibitions have been held so far at the Athens Municipal Gallery (2006) and at the Larissa Municipal Gallery-Katsigras Museum (2011).
