Born in 1952 in Argos, she studied painting and decorative arts (1971-1975) and printmaking (1975-1977, on an EOMMEX scholarship) at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. While still a student (since 1974) she participated in cultural events and educational activities around the techniques of printmaking. In 1977 she returned to Athens, where she and her husband, the visual artist Pino Pandolfini, founded the Athens Printmaking Centre, an open studio which has actively pursued collaborations with artists, organisations, galleries and museums in Greece and abroad to create art publications and organise seminars, educational programmes and printmaking exhibitions. The same year she presented her first solo exhibition of paintings and prints at the Electra Cinema in Argos.
The natural environment and its organic and inorganic forms have served as inspirations in her work. After 1982 she focused mainly on printmaking, practising copperplate and experimenting with prints on large expanses of white fabric laid out like banners to create a ritualistic atmosphere. She also demonstrated the sculptural dynamic of the engraved printing plates, and gradually progressed to installations in space, sculptures and large constructions. A variety of media and techniques, inventiveness and a propensity to experiment characterise her work. Through a liberal visual interpretation of natural motifs such as spider webs she explores the inner rhythms that govern the functioning of nature.
She was a founding member of the “Copperplate Group” and the “Union of Greek Printmakers” and has collaborated with many cultural institutions and foundations, organising events and lecturing on Art and Printmaking. She has published printmaking albums and illustrated books, and has participated in many artistic initiatives in public spaces. She taught art at the Greek-Italian School (1978-1981), and since 2010 she teaches at the School of Fine Arts in Florina (Dept of Visual and Applied Arts, University of Western Macedonia).
She has presented her work in over 30 solo exhibitions in Greece and Italy and in numerous group exhibitions in Greece, Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland. She has participated also in international events like Berlin’s Τriennale Intergrafik (1984), the Biennale of Baden-Baden (1985) and the Arte Fiera in Bologna (1985).
