Born in Serres in 1941, he first went into painting as a teenager. In 1957 he enrolled in the School of Architecture of Graz and in 1962 he transferred to the University of Thessaloniki, graduating as an architect in 1965.
As of 1968 he works as an architect and urban planner, at the same time being active in various fields: participates in excavations at Kato Zakros, publishes his first translation of the play Andorra by Max Frisch, and takes part in the K Parthenis art competition where his work earns a commendation and is exhibited in a group show at the Astor Gallery.
His first solo exhibition was presented in Thessaloniki (1973, Zeta Mi Gallery). His painting is predominantly anthropocentric, often inspired by the formal archetypes of Antiquity, Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism. The human body is depicted in all possible versions, in both its internal structure and external aspect, becoming a field of symbolic interpretations, multiple approaches and allusions. The precise draughtsmanship and attention to detail, the bright colours and the dense composition prevail in an art with evident influences from surrealism and fantastic realism.
His systematic engagement in photography since 1968 led to the creation of an extensive collection of monochrome and colour photographs, which were first exhibited in a solo exhibition (2017, Gallery 7) in six series: photo portraits, male and female nudes, artists' studios, scenes from Mt Athos, the coffee shops of old Athens and travel photography from Greece and abroad.
His multiple activities include also poetry, literature, translation, graphic design, book editing and stage design. He has represented Greece in theatre festivals as well as in poetry festivals abroad (Netherlands, Germany). He has repeatedly received awards and commendations for his work in painting, poetry, literature and translation.
He has presented his art in 14 solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in group shows. He is a member of the Writers' Guild, the Art Chamber of Greece, the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Society of Greek Playwrights.
