Born in Athens in 1971, in 1988-1989 he took classes in painting and drawing before going on to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan under Diego Esposito, Antionio D’Avossa and Vito Bucciarelli (1995-1999.)
In his first solo exhibition
(Luoghi Sacri, Galleria Pianissimo, Milan 2001) he attempts to establish a dialogue with objects from the past, photos and toys full of personal and collective memories, demonstrating how art can move from play to work and ultimately
to poetic thinking. His next show,
Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog (Galleria Pianissimo, Milan 2002) is based on a series of old personal photos of himself and his dog, where the image of the artist is juxtaposed with the portrait of the dog.
In 2007 he presents his first solo exhibition in Greece
—The photographer of Women— at the Medusa Art Gallery. In 2010 he exhibits the series
A night in Catalonia (Museum of the Mediterranean, Torroela de Montgri), inspired by the events of Christ’s Passion Week in Catalonia. The next series
(Less than zero and
The end of the golden era, Medusa Art Gallery 2011 και 2014) show a strong inclination to critique the contemporary social and political reality through paintings,
constructions and installations. His most recent work
(A Greek summer, Medusa Art Gallery 2017) features a series of large-scale paintings and two installations with subjects relating to summer holiday settings, although their visual processing leaves them with a disquieting sense of ambiguity.
He has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His participations include the exhibitions
Terres de Grece III (Bordeaux 1997),
N.U.N.G. (Vecchio Ospedale Soave, Lodi 2000),
A-TOPIA (Goethe Institute, Athens 2003),
Biennale Adriatica Arti Nuove (San Benedetto del Tronto 2004 & 2006),
From Picasso to Koons: Artists’ jewellery (Benaki Museum, 2012);
The New "Salon des Cent" – International Poster Exhibition. Tribute to Toulouse Lautrec (Benaki Museum, 2017), etc. In 2006 he won the first award at the
Biennale Adriatica Arti Nuove.
