Born in Athens, she studied Greek and English Language and Literature as well as History & Archaeology at the University of Athens, and has a degree from the Athens School of Tourist Guides. She continued with postgraduate studies in the History & Methodology of European Art at Tours and Sorbonne (Paris I & IV), and obtained a Seeger Foundation scholarship for postgraduate studies in Modern & Contemporary Art at Princeton University.
In 1977-1983 she taught at the Athens School of Tourist Guides, and since 1981 she teaches Art History at the History & Archaeology Dept of the Athens University’s School of Philosophy.
She was a permanent associate of Hellenic Radio (ΕRΑ 1; 1988-1995) with the radio shows “Image of the Week” and “The Aegean in Myth, History, Culture and current reality”, and participated in the TV show “Ten Eras of Painting” for ET1.
She has curated many art exhibitions (solo, group, retrospective, thematic). She was National Commissioner for the 1995 Biennale of Sao Paulo (1995), the exhibition The focus of the Gaze held at the West European Union Building of Brussels during the Greek presidency (1998), and the International Biennale of Sharjah (1999, 2001). From 1995 to date she is head and curator of the Ploes programme of the Petros and Marika Kydoniefs Foundation of Andros, and in 2012 she was elected President of the Art Committee of the Rhodes Museum of modern-Greek Art, organising exhibitions at the Museum’s galleries.
She has published articles in newspapers and art magazines in Greece and abroad. She has also edited art books, albums, collection catalogues and catalogues for solo and group exhibitions, and contributed many texts to collective tomes. She is a member of AICA Hellas.
