a.antonopoulou.art

The a.antonopoulou.art gallery was established in 2001 at no. 20 Aristophanous St at Psyrri, Athens by Angeliki H. Antonopoulou, formerly the co-founder, with Gavrilos Michalis, of the Epikentro Contemporary Art space in Patra and later in Athens (1989-2000).
The gallery intended from the outset to support our country's already established artists as well as provide a platform for emerging and rising practitioners and play a key part on artistic developments. It presents predominantly Greek art, photography, videos and installations.
Its activities and orientations include producing and organising shows in other venues and in collaboration with other organizations, for example the exhibition Book Mythologies: Contemporary Greek Artists (curator: Efi Strusa) as part of Frankfurt's International Book Fair 2001 (Guest of Honour: Greece), or the exhibition "What remains is the future" (curator: Nadja Argyropoulou) at the Old Arsakeio School of Patra as part of the events for "Patra Cultural City of Europe 2006".
The gallery is a member of the Union of Greek Art Galleries, and Angeliki Antonopoulou sat in the organising committee of Art Athina (1998-2006), participating in its annual events with solo and group exhibitions as well as in other international foires (Arco-Madrid, ArtBrussels, Fresh Paint-Israel).
